Telecom (B2B)

Telecom (B2B) performs best of all industries (7.25) and takes first place from Telecom (B2C). Although the industry is awarded a good grade in some dimensions, there are still others where it only gets a sufficient score, indicating room for improvement.

Telecom (B2C)

Telecom (B2C) has been the top-ranked B2C industry for the past two years and stays on top for 2018. Its overall grade is satisfying, but there is a clear decline in the mobile dimension both in terms of grade and ranking.

Retail

Retail ranks highest after the telecom industries (B2C and B2B), with a satisfactory grade overall (7), retaining its place from last year. Though it leads in digital product experience and e-CRM, retail still trails other industries in the mobile dimension for the third consecutive year.

Energy

This year, the energy industry has improved its level of digitalization and is now ranked fourth, climbing two places since last year. An improved ranking in four of the dimensions explains the vast improvement, but e-commerce and mobile are two challenging areas for the industry.

Food retail

The food retail industry has improved its ranking, climbing from eighth in 2017 to fifth in 2018, receiving a sufficient grade (6.75). The biggest improvements come from the digital product experience and e-commerce dimensions.

Passenger transportation

Passenger transportation drops one place in the industry ranking compared with last year, ending up sixth overall. The industry still places second in e-commerce and third in both digital marketing and mobile.

Media

Media drops two places to seventh this year, losing ground to its competitors in four of the six dimensions. However, media is the highest-ranked industry in social media, and many of the media companies are in the top 10 in this dimension.

Bank

Several companies in the banking industry are struggling with digitalization putting banking in eighth place this year, dropping one place from last year. The industry mainly loses ground to its competitors in the e-commerce and e-CRM dimensions.

Insurance

The insurance industry is ranked ninth overall, keeping its place from last year. Compared with other industries, digital marketing and e-commerce are insurance’s strongest dimensions, where it ranks fifth overall in both.

The manufacturing industry has failed to improve on both its position and its grade from last year.

For the third year in a row, credit management is at the bottom of the B2B ranking, coming in 11th place of the 12 industries overall, with scores lower than the B2B average in every dimension.

Consumer products (food)

Consumer products (food) ranks the lowest of all industries, falling one place from last year. The industry receives a poor grade overall (5.75); only Arla betters this result with a sufficient score (6.5).
